WebMC - your new mail client on the net

As you can see this part of Sarling.se is in english. Reason is that there might be someone not Swedish speaking out there that is interested in what I have done. And please explore my work. WebMC is a Web 2.0 application buildt on the excelent ExtJS javascript library. There is a PHP based backend and I'm using AJAX calls from the client. I've also used the AdoDB library for database connectivity and Xpert Mailer package for SMTP functions.

Prerequisites

Account information

Before you try to use the client you need some basic information about your mail account.

• Your username (might not be the same as your mail address)
• Your password
• The mail server name or IP-address. If you are using Google mail this will be imap.gmail.com
• If the mailserver uses "Secure connection" (i.e. SSL)
• If the server uses a self certified certificate (this is unusual if your using a major mail service but can be true if you run your own mail server

Usage note

First time you use the client you have to enter username and password. You also need to click the little button with a down arrow on the left side of the label "Optional Information" and enter the name of the mail server. If you use Google mail this is imap.gmail.com and for Telia it's mailin.telia.com

Where is it?

I just want to be sure that you understand that this is a Beta! Especially the delete message function is a bit buggy for some mail services (like Gmail). Understand? OK, here's the link to WebMC. The installed version is 10.

If you are interested in the source code you have to get it from my SVN repository at http://sarling.se/repos/webmc. It's GPL licensed but I haven't had the time to include this information into the source directory, neither is it stated in the client interface.
